Welcome CIPM Ikeja Chapter

CIPM, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, is the regulatory body for the practice of Human Resource Management in Nigeria. The Institute was established in 1968 and started as the Personnel Management Association of Nigeria and in 1973, it was renamed and has since taken on the current name – CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT OF NIGERIA.

The Institute was chartered by Decree No. 58 of 1992 and charged with the responsibility of regulating the practice of Human Resource Management in Nigeria. It was also mandated to promote excellence in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills by practitioners, thereby contributing to sustainable National Development. The CIPM CHAPTERS were therefore established as a vital organ to the state branches in the discharge of this mandate.

CIPM Chapters were also established to ensure that the objectives for which CIPM was instituted are achieved across the different geopolitical locations, expand our horizon and involve many more members in the grassroots planning and implementation of the Institute’s activities, as well as encourage communal relations

Objective of the Establishment of CIPM Chapters

The CIPM CHAPTERS are the arms of the state branches of CIPM and the objective of creating them just like those of the state branches are:

  • To create a forum for the discussion of matters concerning Human Resource Management
    .
  • To unite the efforts of all those who feel the need to achieve and maintain a high standard of Human Resource Management in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • To improve the general level of Human Resource Management education by organizing lectures, debates, seminar, case studies and by the publication and distribution of appropriate educational literature and such other activities as would enhance the realization of the aims and objectives of the Institute.
  • To provide generally an organization for the promotion and encouragement of the art and practice of Human Resource Management including provision for the training and examination of candidates to qualify for membership of the Institute.
